Community Centre
"The Canopy is a social hub that embraces Pomona's sub-tropical weather. The tensile structure mimics the natural canopy of the nearby trees and allows residents and visitors to connect to the environment. With many national parks in the region, the outdoors is an important aspect of life in Pomona. Connecting to people as well as nature is a vital aspect of health and wellbeing so the Canopy creates public areas that bring people together."

3rd Year Design Assignment
Community Node "The node entitled Uroka aims to encourage visitors and locals alike to take some time for self-care. Everybody has different ideas of health and wellbeing, hence this pavilion will not dictate any one activity. Meditation, exercise, reading or time with family can all add to one's mental or physical health. The node is simply a vessel and a physical reminder to spark self-reflection or self-care. 'Uroka' comes from the local Gubbi Gubbi language for 'the sun'. This is because the node protects from the sun and at night acts a a lantern in the Noose landscape. The slightly translucent material gives the space an ethereal character akin to the Aboriginal peoples' demagogic perception of the sun. Uroka connects back to 'Noosa' which means 'shadows' in Gubbi Gubbi. The structure of the node is prefabricated and the tensile system allows for a lightweight structure that is easily demountable. Indigenous AFL Jersey
I was asked to design an Indigenous AFL jersey for the Brisbane Jets Club. The feathers are inspired by the Brolga which is Queensland's state bird. I utilised the circular symbols which traditionally mean a gathering place since AFL brings people together. |
